About

The Website Implementation Guidelines Group manages the design, development, and deployment of the branded/official Illinois Web Theme. WIGG is a campuswide community of practice recognized by IT Council and StratCom as the campus authority on best website practices. All members of the campus community can use the assets WIGG creates.

Members of WIGG are experts from marketing, design, IT, and security in departments campus-wide. Current working groups include:

Why 

To address the university’s initiative for a unified Illinois brand and consistency, a small, grassroots group of technical and marketing professionals across campus banded together to address the need for creating best website practices. The group also acknowledged the crucial need for campus units to have resources related to technical implementations.

In collaboration with offices across campus (OCIO, Provost, Chancellor, IT Council, and Stratcom), WIGG has become the trusted campus authority for establishing design, development, accessibility, security, and product testing for public-facing websites.

Deliverables

WIGG deliverables and assets are available to the entire campus community:

Branded and accessible components that meet the layout and functional needs of campus users
Code repositories and codebases that facilitate Illinois Web Theme implementations
Teams space for campus users to discuss needs, troubleshooting, training, etc.
